Employee Choice

An employee choice IT scheme from Trams can help reduce costs associated with deploying, supporting, tracking and replacing lost hardware. And, employees become more responsible for and take better care of the computer equipment they use because of their vested interest in it.

Employee choice schemes are not a new concept; organisations of all sizes are running them successfully. Trams will partner with you at every stage of development from initial consulatation, through a pilot scheme, into full company-wide deployment.

Benefits of employee choice:

  • Increased employee productivity
  • Employees take better care of their chosen IT equipment
  • A substantial rise in employee satisfaction and morale
  • Increased employee retention and desirability
  • IS&T becomes a service provider, rather than a controlling obstacle
  • Long-term cost savings can be realised

An employee choice pilot scheme - the basics:

  • Trams assess the technical feasability of deploying Macs via an employee choice scheme and aid in upgrading any backend systems, if required.
  • Employees apply to their managers, who decide whether they're a good choice for the employee choice programme.
  • The company gives employees an allowance to buy a machine, based on the company’s calculations of its total cost of ownership of the devices.
  • Employees are required to install the software (including antivirus software) that the company provides.
  • They are required to buy a service contract with an outside provider (Trams and/or AppleCare).Your company provides application support but not device support.

Bring your own computer (BYOC)

A popular variation of employee choice for some of our customers is the bring your own computer (BYOC) to work scheme. Particularly popular with Citrix customers, BYOC brings all the benefits of employee choice whilst keeping capital expenditure and support costs to a minimum.

How do I get started?
